Baker Mayfield set to ink $100 million contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield enjoyed a standout season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023. Following his one-year contract agreement with Tampa Bay the prior offseason, Mayfield outperformed former Florida quarterback Kyle Trask to secure the starting role during training camp.

Throughout the season, Mayfield played a key role in guiding the Buccaneers to the divisional round of the playoffs, accumulating 4,044 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

In recognition of his contributions, Mayfield and the Buccaneers are nearing the finalization of a new contract that will keep the former Oklahoma player in Tampa Bay for the next three seasons.

As reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, both parties have reached an agreement on a three-year, $100 million deal, which guarantees Mayfield $50 million and carries an average annual value of $33.3 million.

This significant move provides the Buccaneers with stability at quarterback for the foreseeable future and presents Mayfield with an opportunity to capitalize on his prime years.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Mayfield’s contract could potentially earn him up to $115 million if he achieves certain performance incentives.
