A promising newcomer from the Detroit Tigers might be on the brink of a breakthrough campaign while the team steadily climbs up the ranks.
In 2024, the Detroit Tigers aim to maintain their upward trajectory and could witness a breakthrough season from former top prospect Parker Meadows.
According to the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal, Meadows showcased his potential by going 1-for-3 with a double in Friday’s Grapefruit League game against the Orioles, boosting his spring batting average to .350 with a 1.131 OPS.
With two home runs and two doubles in eight spring games, Meadows has been on a tear, positioning himself as Detroit’s primary option in center field. After a mixed performance in 2023 with 37 games under his belt, Meadows seems poised for a breakout in his inaugural full MLB season in 2024.
Meadows is expected to anchor center field, while fellow young outfielder Riley Greene transitions to right field. The 24-year-old Meadows, a former second-round pick from Georgia, made his MLB debut last year, batting .240 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in those 37 games.
A breakout season from Meadows would add to the Tigers’ lineup of homegrown talent, including Spencer Torkelson and Greene. Colt Keith is also anticipated to join the team following spring training.
In addition to bolstering their young position players, Detroit focused on strengthening its pitching for the 2024 season. They welcome Casey Mize back to the starting rotation after a year off due to injury and have acquired veterans Jack Flaherty and Kenta Maeda during the offseason.
