Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk reflects on his time at Parkhead in a Q&A session, discussing his experience with Rangers and life at Celtic.

Liverpool’s standout player, Virgil van Dijk, has shared insights into his time at Parkhead, emphasizing the magnitude of Celtic.

The formidable Dutch athlete, aged 32, spent two years in Glasgow before making a significant £13 million transfer to the Premier League with Southampton in 2015.

Initially recruited from Groningen for a mere £2.6 million, Van Dijk excelled under the management of Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila at Celtic, clinching three trophies.

Despite being earmarked for greatness, notably labeled as the “best defender in Europe” at just 23 by former Hoops assistant John Collins, Van Dijk’s rise to prominence faced skepticism.

However, he has since achieved global recognition, securing numerous accolades with Liverpool, including the Premier League and Champions League titles.

As the runner-up for the 2019 Ballon d’Or, he is now widely regarded as one of the finest defenders in football history. Nonetheless, Van Dijk attributes a pivotal role to his time at Celtic Park in shaping his illustrious career trajectory.
