Perhaps it’s not the most opportune moment to delve into the narrative of a fresh sports betting enterprise, particularly when the name of baseball’s most prominent figure has surfaced in connection with a federal inquiry into illicit bookmaking.

However, considering that just last week, betting lines flashed on ESPN screens while Shohei Ohtani, a prominent baseball player, affirmed he had never engaged in sports betting; and with the commencement of another Major League Baseball season, during which the league has granted “official sports betting partner” status to numerous sponsors; and at a juncture when the league itself operates a social media account promoting itself as “your source for baseball trends, odds, futures, props, contests, and fantasy” — why not discuss it?
