New Philadelphia Eagles Acquisition Shows Support for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia Eagles have been enhancing their roster recently and recently reunited with a key member from their 2022 NFC Championship team.

After a stint with the Detroit Lions during the 2023 NFL season, veteran safety CJ Gardner-Johnson returned to the Eagles after becoming a free agent for the second consecutive season.

Now back with the Philadelphia franchise, Johnson expressed support for their neighboring team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

During Thursday night’s game against the Miami Heat, Johnson attended the match at the Kaseya Center, rooting for the visiting team. The experienced Eagle ensured his followers knew he was there to watch Sixers superstar Joel Embiid in action.

Johnson chose the perfect time to enjoy a Sixers game down south as it marked Embiid’s second appearance since his recovery from a meniscus injury.

In January, Embiid was performing exceptionally well, leading the league in scoring and being a top contender in the MVP race. However, his knee issues worsened when another player aggravated his existing injury during a game against the Golden State Warriors, forcing him to leave the court early.

Following MRIs and consideration of treatment options, Embiid underwent surgery, expecting to be sidelined for at least eight weeks. However, he made a return to action on Tuesday night after missing two months’ worth of games.

While his availability for Thursday’s game in Miami was uncertain, the MVP-caliber player was cleared to play. He ended up contributing 29 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block in 33 minutes of play, leading the Sixers to a 109-105 victory over the Heat.
