Joe Mixon of the Houston Texans might experience a significant increase in his statistical performance in the upcoming 2024 season.

Amidst the excitement generated by Houston’s acquisition of Stefon Diggs through a trade, it’s tempting to sideline the addition of former Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon. However, neglecting Mixon’s arrival would be an oversight, as his presence offers Houston a multifaceted and well-rounded offensive arsenal.

Mixon demonstrated his capabilities by tallying 1,034 rushing yards with nine touchdowns on 257 carries in the previous season. Additionally, he proved his versatility by catching 52 passes for 376 yards and three touchdowns. According to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Mixon is expected to enhance these numbers with his new team, the Texans.

Patra suggested that if Joe Mixon continues from where Devin Singletary left off, he should anticipate a similar workload to what he had in Cincinnati, allowing him to replicate his production from the previous season. With Mixon joining an offense prioritizing the running game, despite the Texans potentially increasing their passing game due to the recent acquisition of Stefon Diggs, Mixon is likely to face favorable defensive alignments.

Singletary, who signed a three-year contract with the New York Giants in March, took over as the primary running back last season for the Bengals, accumulating 898 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 216 carries. His performance notably improved over the final 10 games of the season when he assumed the starting role, registering 167 carries for 715 yards during that period.

Mixon achieved a 1,000-yard rushing season for the fourth time last season, and he would have had six consecutive such seasons if injuries hadn’t affected his campaigns in 2020 and 2022.
