2024 Raiders Draft: Georgia Running Back Kendall Milton Presents Late-Round Potential
The Las Vegas Raiders have cut ties with former standout running back Josh Jacobs, who had been a cornerstone of the team’s offense for the past five seasons, earning two Pro Bowl nods and an All-Pro selection.
Jacobs departed for Green Bay where he secured a lucrative deal that the Raiders chose not to match. With Jacobs gone, the Raiders are pinning their hopes on Zamir White to step up as the primary running back. White showed promise by tallying 354 yards and a solid 4.7 yards per carry over the last four games of the previous season. If he continues to progress, he could justify the fourth-round pick invested in him back in 2022.
Currently, the Raiders’ running back roster boasts five players, with White, Alex Mattison, and Ameer Abdullah leading the pack. However, the team may opt to bolster their running back corps through the draft to adopt a committee approach.
In the NFL, general managers often unearth hidden talent in later rounds, particularly in the running back position. One such prospect projected for day three of the draft is Kendall Milton from Georgia. Despite lacking top-end speed, Milton excels in the red zone, showcasing exceptional vision and an ability to power through defenders. His skills as a pass blocker are also notable, although his receiving ability remains a concern. Nonetheless, Milton could offer valuable depth to the Raiders’ running back rotation if selected on day three of the draft.
