Novak Djokovic sets a new record previously held by Rafael Nadal, moving within two titles of achieving a triple victory in Monte-Carlo.

Novak Djokovic has achieved a new milestone in ATP Masters 1000 events by defeating Alex De Minaur (7-5, 6-4) and securing a spot in the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters. This marks Djokovic’s 77th semifinal appearance in tournaments of this caliber, surpassing Rafael Nadal’s previous record of 76 semifinal appearances.

Djokovic has been the most successful player in ATP Masters 1000 tournaments since the category’s inception in 1990. As the world No. 1, he holds the record for the most Masters 1000 titles with 40, followed by Nadal with 36. Additionally, Djokovic holds the record for the most finals appearances with 58, with Nadal trailing closely with 53.

With his latest victory over Alex De Minaur, Djokovic’s semifinal count now stands at 77, surpassing Nadal’s 76. Djokovic also boasts the highest winning percentage in the history of Masters 1000 events, currently at 82.24% (403-87), followed closely by Nadal with 82.17% (406-88).

At 36 years old, Djokovic has become the oldest player in the Open Era to reach the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters, surpassing the previous record held by Nicola Pietrangeli, who reached the semifinals at 35 years old in 1969.
