The Washington Commanders have been actively utilizing their substantial cap space during the offseason, securing key players on both offense and defense in preparation for potentially drafting a rookie quarterback at the second overall pick. One recent addition to the team has already begun to impress his teammates.

According to reports from Around The NFL, Frankie Luvu, the newly acquired linebacker for Washington, has been receiving praise from his teammates for his energetic approach, with one player describing him as “a dog.”

Having departed from the Carolina Panthers in free agency, Luvu signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Commanders. Safety Jeremy Chinn, who previously played with Luvu in Carolina, also commended his high-energy style, stating that Washington can expect someone who consistently gives their all on game days and throughout the season.

Luvu has notably emerged as one of the premier linebackers in the NFL in recent years, recording a career-high 125 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 2023.

Joining Luvu on the revamped defense are several other new additions, including Dorance Armstrong from the Dallas Cowboys, linebacker Bobby Wagner, Jeremy Chinn, Clelin Ferrell, and Dante Fowler Jr.

Washington’s defense struggled significantly last season, conceding an alarming average of 30.5 points per game, the highest in the NFL. Therefore, the addition of players like Luvu aims to bolster the team’s defensive prowess moving forward.
