Dodgers supporter caught tossing counterfeit ball onto field following Manny Machado’s home run catch
During the Dodgers versus San Diego Padres game on Sunday night, a Dodgers supporter attempted to deceive viewers by tossing a counterfeit home run ball onto the field but was exposed on live television. In the fourth inning, when Padres player Manny Machado hit a home run, a Dodgers fan appeared to throw the ball back onto the field. However, cameras caught him retrieving another ball from his pocket and tossing it instead.
The fan, speaking to ESPN, admitted to the act and clarified his motive. “I got busted, but any seasoned ball collector here knows to be prepared for such situations. If a disliked Padre player hits a home run, you don’t toss it back; otherwise, you’ll face relentless booing from fellow Dodgers supporters,” he explained, citing previous experiences of being jeered in similar circumstances.
