The SFA has announced the referee and VAR assignments for the upcoming Scottish Cup semi-finals, with Aberdeen gearing up for a significant showdown against reigning champions Celtic.

Peter Leven will oversee the Dons once more, hoping to orchestrate a major upset by defeating Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops at Hampden Park. This marks Aberdeen’s final opportunity this season to claim silverware after falling short in the Viaplay Cup final under former manager Barry Robson, where they lost to Rangers.

Aberdeen’s last Scottish Cup triumph dates back to the memorable 1990 final against Celtic, sealed with a dramatic penalty shootout victory. Despite a recent league stalemate against Dundee, the team enters this weekend’s clash on a positive note, having remained unbeaten in their last four matches. Notably, their previous encounter with Celtic ended in a commendable 1-1 draw in Aberdeen, under Leven’s interim management following Robson’s departure.

Don Robertson will officiate as the referee for the semi-final, a familiar face for Aberdeen fans as he previously oversaw their League Cup final defeat. Assisting him will be Graeme Stewart and Steven Traynor as assistant referees, with David Dickinson serving as the fourth official. Greg Aitken and assistant VAR Andrew McWilliam will handle VAR duties.
