Penn State secures commitment from Alvin Henderson, the third-ranked running back in the 2025 class.

Penn State has secured another highly sought-after running back in their recruiting efforts. Alvin Henderson, a widely acclaimed four-star prospect and one of the top running backs in the 2025 recruiting class, verbally committed to the Nittany Lions on Thursday afternoon.

Henderson, who shines at Elba High School (Alabama), opted for Penn State over four other finalists: Auburn, Oregon, Florida State, and Miami. With offers from 74 schools, including powerhouse programs like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, and USC, according to Rivals, Henderson’s decision marks a significant addition to Penn State’s roster.

Not only does Henderson become the 12th member of Penn State’s 2025 class, but he also holds the distinction of being their highest-rated recruit. Ranked as the No. 3 running back and the No. 36 overall player in the 2025 recruiting cycle by Rivals, his commitment underscores Penn State’s recruiting prowess.

Joining Aliquippa four-star Tiqwai Hayes and four-star Kiandrea Barker, who transferred to Miami Central (Florida) this offseason, Henderson becomes the third running back in Penn State’s recruiting class. It remains to be seen if Penn State will maintain all three commitments at the position.

Henderson’s addition is a significant acquisition for the Nittany Lions, not only due to his standout performances on tape but also his impressive statistics. Standing at 5-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds, he amassed an astounding 3,523 yards and an impressive 61 touchdowns on 225 carries, averaging 15.7 yards per carry.

Running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider played a pivotal role in Henderson’s recruitment, with Penn State hosting him for a visit last week and expected to welcome him again in June.
