The Blues need to enhance their defensive capabilities in preparation for the upcoming challenge against the Giants.

Carlton’s coach, Michael Voss, emphasizes the importance of the team’s defenders stepping up as they face the undefeated Greater Western Sydney Giants. A challenging month of footy awaits Carlton, commencing with a Saturday clash against Adam Kingsley’s formidable team at Marvel Stadium. The focus will be on defensive resilience against the Giants, who boast a potent attacking lineup including Jesse Hogan, Toby Greene, and Callum Brown. Following this matchup, Carlton will confront strong offensive teams in Geelong, Collingwood, Melbourne, and Sydney over the subsequent four rounds.

The Blues’ defensive unit seeks redemption after faltering late in their previous game against Adelaide in round five. Despite a strong start, Carlton conceded the last three goals, resulting in a two-point defeat and preventing them from achieving their first 5-0 start since 1995. Voss stresses the need for defensive solidity against GWS, acknowledging their prowess not only in transition but also in scoring from stoppages.

However, Carlton faces challenges with key players sidelined due to injuries. Adam Saad, Mitch McGovern, Adam Cerra, and Jesse Motlop are all ruled out with hamstring issues, posing additional hurdles for the team to overcome.
