Surprise Deal: Tennessee, Coach Kim Caldwell land Syracuse’s Alyssa Latham from transfer portal

Syracuse’s Alyssa Latham has decided to join the Tennessee Basketball team after entering the transfer portal.

In Knoxville, Tennessee, Coach Kim Caldwell secured her inaugural commitment for the Tennessee women’s basketball team when Alyssa Latham announced her decision to join the Lady Vol squad via social media on Saturday night.

The former Syracuse forward made the move after completing her freshman year, during which she participated in 32 games, starting in 26. Latham showcased her skills by averaging 8.6 points and leading her former team in rebounds with an average of 7.0 per game. Her impressive performance earned her a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team.

Originally from Glenwood, Illinois, Latham visited Tennessee from April 18th to 19th, where she was seen attending a Tennessee softball game alongside Coach Caldwell and other Lady Vols. Just two days later, on April 20th, she made her commitment to the team.

With the departure of Karoline Striplin to the transfer portal, Jillian Hollingshead remained as the sole true forward on the team. Therefore, Latham’s addition will be invaluable to the Lady Vols in the upcoming season.
