Unacceptable: Tyrese Maxey has been deprived of the finalists for the NBA’s Most Improved Player

Tyrese Maxey has been selected as one of the finalists for the NBA’s Most Improved Player accolade.

In recent years, it has become almost expected that Joel Embiid undergoes significant improvement following an offseason of intense dedication, known as #unseenhours. Following in his footsteps, Tyrese Maxey has embarked on a similar journey, diligently honing his skills and addressing any potential weaknesses in his game through dedicated summer work.

Recognizing his efforts, the NBA has acknowledged Maxey as one of the three finalists for the highly esteemed Most Improved Player award. Competing against Chicago Bulls guard Coby White and Houston Rockets center Alperein Sengūn, Maxey will need to garner enough votes to claim the title.

Maxey made a memorable impact when thrust into postseason action in 2021, notably during a pivotal second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks. Faced with adversity as Ben Simmons struggled, former coach Doc Rivers entrusted the then-23-year-old with crucial late-game responsibilities. Maxey rose to the occasion, aiding the Sixers in avoiding elimination on the road and reclaiming home-court advantage with a stellar performance, contributing 16 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes of play.

Despite his impactful contributions, Maxey saw limited playing time in Game 7, much to the relief of Atlanta.
