Important reserve player for the Dallas Mavericks sustains injury during Game 2 versus the Clippers.
Guard Tim Hardaway Jr., a significant contributor off the bench for the Dallas Mavericks, suffered an ankle injury around midway through the second quarter of Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Hardaway landed awkwardly after attempting a shot from the wing, following a contest by Paul George who flew past him, although no foul was called. In what has been a low-scoring matchup, the Mavericks are in need of offensive firepower, which someone of Hardaway’s caliber could provide.
He was declared out for the remainder of the game during the third quarter, as reported by Mavs PR, concluding with no points in just 6 minutes of play.
Hardaway, now in his sixth season with Dallas, has been averaging 14.4 points per game while shooting 35.3% from beyond the arc. However, it has been a tumultuous season for him. Over his last 11 games, Hardaway has only managed to average 7.6 points per game while shooting 34.5% from the field. Despite scoring 6 points in Game 1 within 16 minutes, he was considered questionable for that game due to illness.
The Mavericks’ offense has heavily relied on the duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, with a pressing need for other players to step up offensively. Although Hardaway’s performance can vary, his ability to provide immediate scoring could prove crucial, as the team seeks alternative sources of scoring support.
