HE’S Coming: Another mega star player committed to Gonzaga just
Spokane, Washington – Michael Ajayi, who transferred from Pepperdine, has signed a financial aid agreement to enroll at Gonzaga University and will be part of the men’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season.
“Michael is an excellent addition,” remarked Mark Few, the Head Coach at GU. “He possesses a strong work ethic and admirable character, making him a perfect fit with our team.”
Hailing from Kent, Washington, Ajayi topped the West Coast Conference in scoring during the previous season with an average of 17.1 points per game. Additionally, he ranked second in the WCC in rebounds, securing 9.9 per game as a junior. His shooting percentages were impressive, making 46.7 percent of his shots from the field and 47 percent from beyond the arc. These performances earned him First Team All-Conference recognition.
Throughout the season, Ajayi achieved the 20-point mark on 11 occasions and reached 30 points twice. In matches against Gonzaga, he maintained an average of 10 points and 8.5 rebounds.
Before joining Gonzaga, Ajayi spent two years at Pierce Community College, where he was honored as the 2022 Northwest Athletic Conference West Region’s Most Valuable Player and the Freshman of the Year for the West Region. During this time, he averaged 20.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
