He is coming:  Jaguars welcomed first round pick Brian Thomas Jr

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jaguars enthusiastically greeted their first-round pick, Brian Thomas Jr., on Thursday, with the talented receiver from LSU expressing his delight at being selected by the team.

The Jaguars opted to trade down from the 17th pick, striking a deal with the Minnesota Vikings, which involved acquiring their 5th round pick for the current year along with third and fourth-round picks for 2025.

Accompanied by his family, Thomas arrived on Thursday, conveying his immense excitement upon receiving the call. He revealed his intention to sport the No. 80 jersey.

“It’s an incredible feeling to share this moment with my family. Knowing that I’ll soon be in Jacksonville is just surreal. This will be my new home, and it’s truly amazing,” Thomas remarked.

In 2023, Thomas earned recognition as a Third Team All-American by AP, secured a spot on the second team all-SEC, and was named a semifinalist for the 2023 Biletnikoff Award. The 21-year-old Louisiana native racked up impressive stats last year with 68 receptions for 1,177 yards and 17 touchdowns.

With a locker room brimming with wide receivers, Thomas sets high goals for his rookie season.

“My aim is to establish trust with the quarterback, my teammates, and the coaching staff. When an opportunity arises, I’ll be ready to give my all and make the play. That’s what I’m striving for,” Thomas explained.

He played a significant role in Jayden Daniels’ Heisman Trophy victory in 2023.

As a versatile athlete, Thomas humorously mentioned that flying on a private jet was a new experience for him.

“Knowing that I’ll soon be in Jax is an incredible feeling. It’s just amazing,” Thomas reiterated.
