Kristaps Porzingis’ Candid Remark Regarding the Miami Heat
On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics hosted the Miami Heat at home in Massachusetts for the second game of their opening-round playoff series. The Heat managed a surprising upset, defeating the Celtics 111-101.
The following day, Kristaps Porzingis spoke with the media and offered a frank assessment of the Miami Heat’s tactics. He noted, “They make us think. They do this on one possession, then they do another thing on another possession, then they switch, then they don’t. That can freeze you a little bit, because you start to think a little bit, then you rush a little bit into the next action.”
In Game 2, Porzingis recorded six points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks while shooting 1/9 from the field and 0/4 from three-point range in 30 minutes of play. The series is now tied at 1-1, with Game 3 set for Friday evening in Miami, Florida.
Porzingis, in his debut season with the Celtics, has integrated well alongside All-Stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The former 2018 NBA All-Star averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 51.6% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc in 57 games.
Reflecting on his performance in Game 2, Porzingis admitted, “I didn’t have a good offensive game at all… I’ll make sure I’m better offensively, 100%.” The Celtics, holding the first seed in the Eastern Conference with the best NBA record (64-18), are seeking redemption after losing to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals in seven games last season.
