Gonzaga’s Graham Ike earns honorable mention on CBS Sports’ ‘All-Transfer Team’.
In Spokane, Washington, Graham Ike of the Gonzaga Bulldogs men’s basketball team rose to prominence throughout the year, earning recognition for his dominance in the paint, emphatic dunks, and solid defensive play. National media outlets are now acknowledging his exceptional season.
Amidst the evolving landscape of college athletics, including factors like the transfer portal and Name, Image, Likeness (NIL), CBS Sports introduced a new accolade: the ‘College Basketball 2023–24 All-Transfer Team’.
While Ike didn’t secure a spot on the first team, he received an honorable mention. Ike made the transition from Wyoming to Gonzaga during the offseason, quickly establishing himself within the Zags’ lineup and capturing the hearts of fans.
Throughout the WCC regular season, Ike led the conference in points per game with an average of 18.4 and boasted an impressive field goal percentage of 64%. His performance marked a rare achievement, as he became only the sixth player in WCC history to lead in both points per game and shooting percentage during the regular season, a feat accomplished by just one other player since the 1980–81 season.
Out of the season’s matchups, Ike scored at least 10 points in all but five games. His season high of 26 points was achieved on February 2nd in Gonzaga’s victory over Santa Clara (94-81), a feat he repeated in the following game against San Francisco (86-68).
Scoring 20 or more points in 11 of the 16 regular-season WCC games, Ike led the conference in this regard. Additionally, he secured a double-double in 10 games throughout the season.
As a junior, Ike delivered an impressive season for Gonzaga. With a full offseason under the guidance of head coach Mark Few ahead, there’s anticipation for even greater achievements from the talented big man.
