NFL Breaking: Anticipating Tennessee Vols Running Back Jaylen Wright’s Draft Position for Day Two of the 2024 NFL Draft

Forecasting the potential draft placement of Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright for the second day of the 2024 NFL Draft.

None of the former Tennessee Vols were chosen in the opening round of the 2024 NFL Draft, aligning with expectations. No former Vols were anticipated to be selected in the first round this year. Jaylen Wright, a former Tennessee running back, is poised to be the initial former Vol drafted in 2024.

He may potentially be drafted on the second night of the event, which kicks off on Friday evening. Recent mock drafts have consistently placed Wright in the third round. Numerous teams positioned to pick in the latter half of the third round could benefit from a running back, including the team I believe will ultimately select the Durham, NC native. I anticipate the Dallas Cowboys will secure Wright on Friday night. With the No. 87 overall pick in the third round, Dallas falls within the projected range for Wright’s selection.

Currently, the running back lineup for the Cowboys lacks standout options, with Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn holding the top spots.

Acquiring Wright in the third round could significantly bolster their roster depth. This move would not only enhance their on-field performance with one of the draft’s premier running backs but also provide financial benefits through a rookie contract. It stands as a savvy decision both in terms of on-field strategy and off-field fiscal management for the Cowboys.
