Another mega star player committed to Indiana Fever that will help take the team to the
In a move that was widely expected, the Indiana Fever have chosen to retain forward NaLyssa Smith by exercising their fourth-year option on her contract.
Smith, who was picked as the second overall selection in the 2022 draft from Baylor University, has become a cornerstone player for the Fever. Over her two seasons with the team, she has maintained averages of 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds. Teamed up with Aliyah Boston, the first overall pick in 2023, in the frontcourt, it was an obvious decision for the Fever to extend Smith’s contract.
Similar to the practices in the NBA, it’s customary in the WNBA for rookies to sign a three-year deal with a team option for the fourth year. With this extension, Smith is now committed to the Fever for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
According to Spotrac, Smith is slated to earn $80,943 for the upcoming 2024 season, with her salary increasing to $91,981 in 2025.
The Fever are scheduled to commence their training camp on April 28, followed by two preseason games: one on May 3 in Dallas and another on May 10 at home against the Atlanta Dream. Their regular season kicks off on May 14 in Connecticut.
