Patrick Mahomes expresses appreciation for Chiefs GM following NFL Draft trade with 49ers and selection of OT Suamataia.
Patrick Mahomes has expressed approval of the performance in this year’s NFL draft.
The renowned quarterback commended Chiefs general manager Brett Veach for his efforts during the initial tKansas City Chiefs’wo rounds of the draft, expressing his admiration for Veach on social media Friday night.
The Chiefs selected wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the first round and then traded up with the San Francisco 49ers to secure offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia with the No. 63 pick in the second round. These picks are expected to benefit Mahomes, and he appears pleased with the acquisitions.
With Worthy and Suamataia, the Chiefs have added potential stars to their roster. Worthy, who impressed with a record-breaking 40-yard dash time at the NFL combine, showcased his skills at Texas, recording 1,014 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2023. His speed aligns well with Kansas City’s offensive style, and Mahomes is likely excited about the prospect of targeting him.
Suamataia, with a PFF grade of 67.5 for BYU last season, brings substantial size at 6’5″ and 325 pounds. His presence will bolster the Chiefs’ offensive line, providing Mahomes with better protection and more time to execute plays, potentially targeting Worthy downfield.
After securing their third-straight Super Bowl appearance by defeating the San Francisco 49ers in February, the Chiefs are aiming to maintain their success. While the challenge ahead is formidable, adding talent through the draft should enhance their chances of achieving their goals.
