Ravens Draft Lamar Jackson’s New Weapon in the Fourth Round

The Baltimore Ravens kick off Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft by adding a weapon for Lamar Jackson.

At the No. 113 overall pick, the Ravens choose Devontez Walker, a receiver from North Carolina.

Walker faced challenges early in his college career when the 2020 season at North Carolina Central was canceled. He then transferred to Kent State in 2021, where he played for two seasons. His breakout year occurred in 2022, recording impressive stats with 58 receptions for 921 yards and 11 touchdowns in just 12 games.

In 2023, Walker returned to North Carolina, becoming one of Drake Maye’s primary targets. However, his production slightly decreased compared to his final year at Kent State, tallying 41 catches for 699 yards and three touchdowns in eight appearances, averaging 17 yards per catch.

Known for his ability to make big plays, Walker’s speed allows him to stretch the field. He showcased his speed at the NFL Combine, running a 4.36-second 40-yard dash, ranking fifth among all receivers. In the Ravens’ offense, he aims to carve out a role behind established receivers like Zay Flowers, Nelson Agholor, and Rashod Bateman.
