NRL REVIEW: Shane Flanagan head coach announces his leaving after match due to

St George Illawarra coach Shane Flanagan expressed his impatience for the Anzac Day clash against the Roosters to be over, as he could only watch from the coaches’ box with dismay as the Dragons suffered a crushing 60-18 defeat at Accor Stadium.

Just a week after a commendable victory over the Warriors, the Dragons found themselves outclassed by the Roosters, who ran in 10 tries, all converted by Sam Walker, showcasing his skills as a young halfback.

Flanagan admitted feeling relieved when the game concluded, highlighting the team’s struggle to cope with the Roosters’ athleticism and dominance in all aspects of the game.

The coach, who had been buoyant after the win against the Warriors, acknowledged the team’s significant regression in performance. The Dragons, who had shown promise the previous week, were left disappointed and grounded by the defeat.

The match got off to a disastrous start for the Dragons when center Moses Suli was knocked out attempting to tackle Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves on the first play of the game, setting a somber tone for the team.

Despite the setback, Dragons captain Ben Hunt emphasized the need to persevere and move forward. Looking ahead, the Dragons prepare to face the Sharks in their upcoming fixture.
