HE’S COMING: Another mega star player Committed to the Port Adelaide just

Port Adelaide’s recent acquisition in the ruck department, Ivan Soldo, is set to be sidelined for at least a month in the AFL season due to a reoccurrence of an old knee injury. Soldo will undergo arthroscopic surgery following damage to his left knee’s lateral meniscus last week.

As a result, Port Adelaide will be leaning on their second ruck recruit, Jordon Sweet, who joins from the Western Bulldogs. Sweet will step into the role, commencing with the upcoming game against St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Friday night. This transition occurs alongside the return of key forward Charlie Dixon and the seasoned Travis Boak, who holds the club’s games record.

Sweet, who played 11 games for the Bulldogs before returning to South Australia last season, showcased his capabilities during Port’s recent loss to Collingwood. He is now poised to face St Kilda’s formidable Rowan Marshall on Friday night.

Coach Ken Hinkley sees the situation as an opportunity for Sweet to demonstrate his skills consistently at a higher level. Despite Soldo’s absence, with his impressive average of 29 hitouts in his initial six games for Port, Hinkley remains hopeful that Soldo’s setback will only be temporary, emphasizing the importance of addressing the knee issue promptly to avoid long-term complications.

Port Adelaide currently occupies the sixth position in the league standings, facing a St Kilda side led by Ross Lyon, who is known for their defensive prowess and high-pressure gameplay. Hinkley anticipates a tough challenge and emphasizes the need for his team to be prepared for an intense contest.
