Surprise Deal: Tennessee Volunteers forward Tobe Awaka bids a farewell departure to join Arizona

Tennessee Volunteers transfer forward Tobe Awaka finds a new team.

Reportedly, Tennessee Volunteers transfer forward Tobe Awaka has secured a new destination. As per Joe Tipton of On3, Awaka has made a commitment to join the Arizona Wildcats. Awaka entered the NCAA transfer portal soon after the conclusion of the season.

Awaka, a former three-star recruit hailing from New York, committed to the Vols during the 2022 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-8 forward posted averages of 5.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while playing 13.1 minutes per game this previous season for the Volunteers.

Speculations arose about Awaka potentially returning to Tennessee after entering the transfer portal. However, although the option for a comeback to Knoxville remained open, it seems that both parties ultimately decided to part ways.

Earlier on Monday, the Vols secured a commitment from forward Igor Milicic, a transfer from Charlotte.
