Caitlin Clark’s rookie Fever card fetches a five-figure sum in just seconds.

The debut card of WNBA’s top draft pick, Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, fetched an impressive $10,000 within minutes of its release on Tuesday. This sale was part of Panini America’s 2024 Instant WNBA Draft Night series, which introduced trading cards featuring this year’s draft class.

Clark’s “Blue Viper 1/1 Auto” card quickly found a buyer, showcasing the immense popularity and market value of the Iowa standout. Unlike typical auctions, this card was sold through a Dutch Auction format, where the price drops every five minutes. However, due to high demand, the card was snapped up instantly at the initial price, eliminating the need for any price reduction.

Alongside Clark’s sale, Panini also launched various versions of her cards, ranging from a base card priced at $9.99 to a non-autographed version of the Blue Viper 1/1, which sold for $3,000 within minutes, according to Will Stern of Cllct.

Other top WNBA draft picks like Cameron Brink, selected second by the Los Angeles Sparks, Kamilla Cardoso, picked third by the Chicago Sky, and Angel Reese, chosen seventh by the Sky, also had cards released in the same series. Brink and Reese had high-end cards starting at $1,500 and $1,000 respectively, both of which sold quickly at their starting prices. Additionally, rookies Rickea Jackson, Nika Mühl, Jacy Sheldon, and Alissa Pili also received cards.

In total, 64 variations of these cards were released, indicating Caitlin Clark’s significant impact on the sports card market.
