Zoo Crew Enlists Former Pitt Panthers Star for TBT Team.

The Pitt Panthers recruited a seasoned standout to join Zoo Crew in preparation for this summer’s TBT.

PITTSBURGH — Ahead of The Basketball Tournament (TBT) regional this summer, the Pitt Panthers have enlisted an esteemed veteran guard/forward to bolster the Zoo Crew roster.

Lamar Patterson, a standout who spent five seasons with the Panthers from 2009-14, will join the Zoo Crew alongside forwards Nike Sibande (2020-23) and Jamel Artis (2013-17). However, there’s uncertainty surrounding guard Jamarius Burton (2021-23) due to a recent injury.

Patterson’s collegiate journey began with a redshirt season, playing sparingly in 11 games. Over his tenure, he progressively solidified his role, culminating in notable contributions during Pitt’s Big East successes and subsequent move to the ACC.

Earning recognition such as Second Team All-ACC honors, Patterson showcased versatility, averaging double figures in points, solid rebounds, and assists. His impact extended beyond collegiate play, as he ventured into professional basketball across various leagues globally.

The Zoo Crew’s campaign in the Pittsburgh Regional at the Petersen Events Center from July 20-24 promises intense competition against formidable opponents like Stars of Storrs (UConn), Happy Valley Hoopers (Penn State), and Best Virginia (West Virginia), among others, all vying for the championship title and the coveted $1 million cash prize.
