PARIS (AP) — Victor Wembanyama anticipates a return to Paris, aspiring to arrive as an Olympic champion when the San Antonio Spurs clash with the Indiana Pacers in two regular-season NBA matchups early next year.

The NBA revealed Thursday that the games are scheduled for Jan. 23 and Jan. 25, marking the inaugural instance of hosting two regular-season games in Paris within a single season.

Wembanyama, the top selection in the 2023 NBA draft, made his debut with the Spurs after transitioning from the Paris-based team Boulogne-Levallois, where he stood out as a 7-foot-4 talent.

This marks the Spurs’ first return to Paris since 2006, when another French basketball luminary, Tony Parker, commanded attention as the team’s point guard.

The Pacers are set to make their inaugural appearances in France.

Prior to these NBA games, Wembanyama is poised to shine at the Paris Olympics, with hopes high for France to clinch their first gold medal, aiming to avenge their loss to the United States in the Tokyo final.

The NBA previously held its third regular-season game in Paris on Jan. 11, with the Cleveland Cavaliers securing a 111-102 victory against the Brooklyn Nets.
