MLB UPDATE: Braves Re-signed a star player that once play for braves…

In each series this season, we’ll shine a spotlight on a former player who once wore a Braves jersey and also played for the current opponent. This weekend, the Braves face off against the star-studded Los Angeles Dodgers, so let’s reminisce about a player who once called both Hollywood and Atlanta home.

While there are various options to consider, we typically prefer to delve into more obscure memories that you might have forgotten. While Freddie Freeman might be the obvious choice, let’s ponder third baseman Juan Uribe.

Uribe spent the majority of his MLB career, five seasons, with the Dodgers from 2011 to 2015. During this time, he maintained a .260 batting average with 28 home runs and 155 runs batted in.

In 2013, wearing Dodger blue, Uribe delivered a heartbreak to Atlanta Braves fans. During a playoff game, he initially attempted a sacrifice bunt in a tight one-run game. However, after two unsuccessful attempts, Uribe surprised everyone by smashing a crucial two-run homer, clinching a victory for the Dodgers and ending the Braves’ hopes for that series.

Uribe later joined the Braves during their rebuilding phase in the 2015 season. Although his tenure in Atlanta lasted only one season, playing just 46 games before moving on to the NL East rival New York Mets, he managed to hit .285 with 7 home runs and 17 runs batted in.

Like many veterans of his time, Uribe was recruited by the Braves to serve as a mentor to the younger players, a role he fulfilled with professionalism.

Uribe may not be widely remembered, but he’s undoubtedly one of those underrated players who made significant contributions. Despite never winning any individual awards, he was a supportive teammate who played vital roles on two World Series-winning teams (with the White Sox and the Giants), demonstrating his value beyond personal accolades.
