Following a string of linemen heading to the NFL this offseason, Michigan secures its first offensive line commitment for the 2025 class with Avery Gach, an offensive tackle from Franklin (Mich.) Wylie E. Groves, announcing his pledge to the Wolverines this afternoon.
Despite receiving offers from numerous Power 5 programs, including Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State, Gach ultimately opted to stay close to home and join the defending National Champion Michigan Wolverines.
“They treated me well every time I visited,” Gach remarked. “It’s a family atmosphere, and they’ve been great to my family. With their recent National Championship win and track record of producing NFL players, especially offensive linemen, along with their outstanding coaching staff, it just felt like the right fit. I believe I can win a National Championship at the University of Michigan.”
Gach’s commitment brings Michigan’s 2025 class to five members, positioning them at No. 36 in the country according to 247Sports.com. Gach himself ranks as the second-best player in Michigan and the 196th overall recruit nationwide.
Here’s a breakdown of Gach’s strengths and areas for improvement from 247Sports.com National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu:
“A tenacious and physical player, Gach excels as a run blocker with his functional strength and pad level. While his pass protection skills are developing, his physicality and punch are notable. Though primarily a left tackle in high school, he may transition to the right side or interior at the collegiate level. Gach possesses solid athleticism but can improve his explosiveness and lateral agility. Overall, he’s a high-floor prospect expected to provide depth and become a dependable starter at the Power Five level.”
Furthermore, Wylie E. Groves offensive line coach Mike Salter provides insight into Gach’s playing style:
“Avery has impressive size, strength, and footwork. He’s a physical player who doesn’t relent until the whistle blows, consistently finishing plays. Off the field, he’s a commendable young man. His determination to be physical and dominate his opponents defines his mindset.”
Gach’s addition bolsters Michigan’s offensive line for the future, with his 6-foot-5, 290-pound frame expected to be an asset for the Wolverines.
