A few weeks ago, news emerged that the University of Tennessee women’s basketball program expressed strong interest in recruiting Indiana women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren to fill its coaching vacancy. Given Moren’s recent track record of success with the Hoosiers, it came as no surprise that the Vols were keen on acquiring her services.

Notice the distinction of the word “were” from the rest of the sentence? That’s because it didn’t take long for Moren to reaffirm her allegiance to the Hoosiers faithful.

Teri Moren is deeply rooted in Indiana and demonstrated her unwavering commitment to the program through this decision. While she potentially could have commanded a higher salary elsewhere, her loyalty to Indiana was truly commendable.

Certainly, Moren’s dedication to IU didn’t go unnoticed, capturing the attention of more than just Tennessee’s administration.

While Striplin may not have been the most highly sought-after prospect in the transfer portal, her addition holds significant importance as we anticipate another promising season for Indiana women’s basketball in 2024-2025. Her presence on the court is sure to elevate the performance of those around her, and with her entering her senior season, her experience ensures immediate contributions.

While Striplin’s commitment primarily underscores her belief in the program’s legacy, it also serves as a subtle warning to those considering poaching our leader. Is it mere coincidence that none of the eligible players from the 2023-2024 roster opted to enter the transfer portal?

Teri Moren is OUR head coach, and she will continue to lead Indiana women’s basketball on the journey back to the top for years to come.
