Its a done deal: Another mega talent player David Fifita committed to the panthers just

David Fifita is nearing a decision about his future as the Round 10 deadline draws near on the Gold Coast. Despite signing a three-year contract extension last year, a clause in the deal has surfaced, potentially allowing Fifita to leave the Titans after this season.

Andrew Johns expressed surprise at the existence of such a clause, considering it uncommon. Fifita and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui both extended their contracts around the same time, with Tino committing until 2033.

While Tino intends to stay with the Titans for his career, Fifita’s future with the club is uncertain, with rival teams showing interest, notably the Penrith Panthers rumored to offer him $850,000 per season.

Despite his previous extension being seen as a win for the Titans, it’s now apparent that Fifita can choose to activate the final two years of his contract before Round 10, making him a free agent for negotiations elsewhere from 2025.

The Panthers have engaged with Fifita amid their plans to compensate for James Fisher-Harris’s anticipated departure. The St. George Illawarra Dragons are also reportedly joining the competition for Fifita. With the release of Zac Lomax, the Dragons have financial flexibility to make a competitive offer.

The Canberra Raiders were keen on Fifita last year but were unsuccessful. Now, amidst their rebuilding phase, they still have room in their budget, despite prioritizing young talents in recent years.
