Auston Matthews, a pivotal member of the Maple Leafs, is set to participate in Game 7 against the Bruins despite sitting out the previous two games.

Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews, currently leading the NHL in goals, is set to return for their crucial Game 7 clash against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night. Matthews sat out the previous two games due to an undisclosed illness.

Despite Matthews’ absence, the Maple Leafs rallied to even the series 3-3 against the Bruins. Matthews notably contributed with a crucial goal in Game 2 and finished the regular season with an impressive 69 goals.

Unfortunately, goalie Joseph Woll will be sidelined for Game 7 due to an injury sustained in Game 6. Stepping in for him will be Ilya Samsonov, who started the first four games of the series but was replaced in Game 4 after conceding three goals. Woll manned the net for Games 5 and 6, allowing just two goals in each game.

This Game 7 showdown holds significant importance as the Maple Leafs renew their playoff rivalry with the Bruins for the third time in seven years. With the series deadlocked, both teams boast an equal Game 7 record historically. Toronto secured victories in Games 5 and 6, outscoring the Bruins 4-2 in those matchups.
