One of the undrafted hopefuls aiming to leave a lasting and positive impression on the Detroit Lions during this week’s rookie minicamp is a highly accomplished college quarterback. Cade Peterson, hailing from Grand Valley State, is among the undrafted free agents (UDFAs) who have secured an invitation to the Lions’ rookie minicamp, where they’ll vie for attention.

During his time at the D-II powerhouse Lakers, Peterson enjoyed a remarkable career, guiding GVSU to a 33-5 record over three seasons as the starting quarterback, with playoff appearances in each of those seasons. Peterson’s exceptional performance earned him two GLIAC Player of the Year awards.

He completed 60.4 percent of his passes, accumulating over 7,200 yards and 67 touchdowns through the air. Additionally, the 6-foot-4, 223-pound quarterback showcased his versatility by rushing for over 1,500 career yards and scoring 21 touchdowns on the ground.

Peterson will be contending for a roster spot as the fourth quarterback heading into Lions’ training camp. Notably, Detroit previously succeeded in this regard with UDFA Adrian Martinez in 2023, and Peterson stands as the sole quarterback currently invited to the rookie minicamp.
