There’s a strong chance that Cam Sutton could come back to the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing cornerback depth concerns, particularly at the nickel cornerback position.

Currently, undrafted free agent Beanie Bishop is poised to assume the top spot at nickel. The only other viable options presently on the roster are Darius Rush and Cory Trice.

However, this situation might soon change. Prior to the 2024 NFL Draft, the Steelers held discussions with Cam Sutton, indicating a potential reunion. According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, there’s a strong likelihood that the Steelers will re-sign Sutton.

“Yeah, I think that’s a really good possibility,” Fittipaldo stated during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan. “Now, I think you guys know the Steelers will take their time with this and they’ll let the legal process play out. They will let the Commissioner’s office conduct their investigation, and then I think they’ll gauge the potential punishment, if any.”

Sutton voluntarily surrendered to police in Hillsborough County, Florida, after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with a domestic violence incident. Originally drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Sutton spent six seasons with the team before joining the Detroit Lions ahead of the 2023 season.
