Revell stepped into the managerial role for Stevenage during the final games of the season following Steve Evans’ departure to manage his former club, Rotherham. Despite hovering around playoff contention at various points during the campaign, Stevenage ultimately secured a ninth-place finish.

A familiar face at the club, Revell, who made 57 appearances during his playing career there, will be supported in the dugout by Neil Banfield and Scott Cuthbert.

Chairman Phil Wallace emphasized that the club opted for Revell over candidates with more experience to maintain the team’s “identity” and unity.

“We carefully considered various candidates, but our squad’s dynamics led us to see Alex as the natural successor to Steve. He’s intimately familiar with the players, having been part of the initial recruitment strategy, and he commands respect in the dressing room.”

Wallace further explained, “While we had other options with more managerial experience, there’s no guarantee the team would have embraced a new manager, and our current dressing room is something special. We aimed to preserve the identity we’ve cultivated. The players have a deep respect and trust in Alex, and we’ve bolstered his coaching prowess with the addition of Neil, who brings both proven ability and experience.”

Wallace concluded, “Football offers no certainties, but we believe this management team is the right fit to establish us as a League One force capable of challenging the top teams.”
