St. Louis Blues extend Hugh McGing’s contract by two years.

The St. Louis Blues have announced the signing of forward Hugh McGing to a one-year, two-way contract. As per CapFriendly, the deal will see McGing earn $775,000 when playing in the NHL and $250,000 when with the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

During the 2023-24 season, McGing played for the Blues’ AHL team, the Springfield Thunderbirds, where he recorded impressive stats with eight goals and 31 assists, totaling 39 points in 51 games. He led the Thunderbirds in assists and ranked fourth in points. Additionally, McGing made appearances in five games for the Blues.

McGing was drafted by the Blues as the 138th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. He spent four years playing for Western Michigan University and served as the team captain during the 2019-20 season. In that season, McGing achieved career-high statistics, leading the team with 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists) in 35 games. His outstanding performance earned him recognition on various NCAA teams, including the NCAA NCHC First All-Star Team, NCAA West All-American Team, and NCAA Lowes Senior Class All-American Team.

After making his AHL debut in the 2020-21 season with the Utica Comets, McGing became a regular contributor for the Thunderbirds in the following season. He accumulated 34 points in 67 games and contributed seven points in 18 AHL playoff games.
