Auburn Tigers Update: Wesley Steiner’s transfer choice, official visit set by Georgia LB commit

Today’s Auburn Tigers News features a former Auburn football linebacker disclosing his transfer destination, while a Georgia linebacker commit schedules an official visit with the Tigers.

Following the news of former Auburn football cornerback JD Rhym’s anticipated transfer to Houston, the Washington State football program announced their signing of former Tigers linebacker Wesley Steiner on Friday.

Steiner, a 4-star recruit from the class of 2020, spent four seasons at Auburn. With decreased playtime last season and the return of the Tigers’ starting linebackers in 2024, Steiner’s move to the transfer portal was expected. Throughout his tenure at Auburn, Steiner amassed 86 total tackles and two tackles for loss. He will have one year of eligibility remaining with Washington State.

In another development, 4-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte, currently committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, has arranged an official visit to the Auburn football program, as reported by On3 Sports.

Hailing from Buford High School, Perlotte pledged to Georgia in December 2022 but has kept his recruitment open, exploring various options ahead of a final decision. He previously visited Auburn for the Ole Miss game last season and has maintained a strong rapport with Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze.

Perlotte’s official visit to Auburn is scheduled for June 12, one among five official visits planned for this summer. His itinerary includes stops at Alabama on May 31, Miami on June 7, Tennessee on June 14, and Georgia on June 21. Although swaying Perlotte from in-state Georgia may pose a challenge, his frequent visits to Auburn and vocal admiration for the Tigers suggest an intriguing recruitment battle.
