Following the conclusion of their rookie minicamp, the Detroit Lions have expanded their wide receiver corps. They’ve signed Kaden Davis, a participant in this week’s rookie minicamp, marking the first reported addition from the tryout group.
Davis, who most recently spent time on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad, showcased his skills during the preseason with eight receptions and a touchdown. Although he was active for just one game with the Cardinals last year, he had signed a futures contract with them at the end of the 2023 season, only to be waived on April 30.
Before his stint with the Cardinals, Davis played for the Michigan Panthers, contributing in both offense and return game across five games during the 2023 season.
In college, Davis attended Division II Northwest Missouri State, where he amassed 703 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in his senior season. His collegiate success culminated in a Division II semifinals appearance for his team.
He initiated his professional journey by joining the Denver Broncos after going undrafted.
The Lions’ wide receiver group is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, anticipated to play a significant role in his third NFL season. With the departure of Josh Reynolds, who played a crucial part last season, Donovan Peoples-Jones is seen as a possible successor.
After opting not to pick a wide receiver in this year’s draft, Detroit acquired two undrafted free agent wide receivers. The team secured deals with Jalon Calhoun from Duke and Isaiah Williams from Illinois.
