Rory Beggan will not be offered a contract by the Carolina Panthers
Monaghan’s goalkeeper, Rory Beggan, won’t be joining the Carolina Panthers despite his tryout as a kicker for the team. He practiced with the NFC South Franchise last Saturday, attempting several field goals and speaking to local media, but he wasn’t offered a contract.
However, Beggan’s ambition to play in the NFL this upcoming season isn’t dashed yet. He still has time to secure a contract elsewhere, as the new season kicks off in just under four months.
In the meantime, it’s uncertain if Beggan will be able to participate in the opening round of the All-Ireland series, where Monaghan is set to face Kerry on Saturday, May 18th.
In other news, Charlie Smith from Down and Jude McAtamney from Derry have signed with the New Orleans Saints, while Mark Jackson from Wicklow has undergone a trial with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
