DEAL IN PROGRESS: Birmingham City are about to sign a talented srtiker Kabongo Tshimanga from…..

Peterborough United has put striker Kabongo Tshimanga on the transfer list, marking two years since his unsuccessful transfer to Birmingham City.

In the summer of 2022, Tshimanga was sought after by Birmingham as a potential center-forward, following a prolific season with Chesterfield in the National League, where he scored 24 goals in 27 matches. However, his move to Birmingham hit a snag during his medical examination due to a lingering ankle issue he hadn’t fully recovered from.

Reflecting on the chaotic transfer deadline day, Tshimanga expressed his apprehensions about the move and the pressure of transitioning from the National League to the Championship. Despite efforts to assure himself and the club that he could manage, doubts persisted about his ankle’s readiness for the higher level of competition.

Following the failed Birmingham move, Tshimanga continued scoring goals in the National League until January, when Peterborough United, long interested in him, finally secured his transfer. However, unlike predecessors such as Aaron McLean, George Boyd, Dwight Gayle, and Ivan Toney, he struggled to establish himself at London Road.

His 2023/24 season saw him split between an unproductive loan spell with Fleetwood Town in League One and a brief stint at Boreham Wood, where he managed seven goals in 16 National League matches.

Peterborough, having missed out on promotion to the Championship through the playoffs, has opted to transfer-list Tshimanga. Additionally, they’ve released prolific striker Jonson Clarke-Harris at the end of his contract.
