NFL Breaking: The Tennessee Vols long awaiting 2024 schedule is onboard

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 2024 Tennessee football schedule, announced by the Southeastern Conference, brings four consecutive home games against Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi State, as well as a notable road trip to Oklahoma in September.

The SEC unveiled Tennessee’s opponents for 2024 in June, part of the expanded 16-team SEC format for the season. Each SEC team will play eight conference games and face one opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, or major independent.

The season kicks off with a home game against Chattanooga on Aug. 31, followed by a trip to Charlotte to face NC State in the Duke’s Mayo Classic on Sept. 7. Then, the Vols host Kent State for the first time on Sept. 14.

In SEC action, Tennessee faces new league member Oklahoma on the road on Sept. 21, marking their first meeting in Norman since 2014. The game was initially scheduled for 2020 but was canceled due to COVID-19, with the SEC directing Tennessee to postpone their 2024 home non-conference game against Oklahoma as they transition to the SEC.

The schedule includes three away games in the first five, with an open date before facing Arkansas on Oct. 5. October sees a packed Neyland Stadium, with back-to-back games against Florida and Alabama, continuing the tradition of facing Alabama on the “Third Saturday in October.”

November brings home games against Kentucky and Mississippi State before facing Georgia in Athens, marking the fourth straight season of facing the Bulldogs in November.

The Vols step out of SEC play for their home finale against UTEP on Nov. 23 and conclude the regular season at Vanderbilt on Nov. 30 in Nashville.

Starting July 2024, ESPN platforms exclusively host all SEC sports. The season eliminates divisions, and the SEC Championship Game, featuring the top two teams, airs live on ABC on Dec. 7, 2024, at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
