As shifts continue to define the landscape of college football, one constant persists: the enduring rivalry of the sport remains unaltered, at least for the upcoming 2024 season.
Fox Sports declared on Monday that the highly anticipated clash between Michigan and Ohio State football, famously known as “The Game,” will once again commence at noon on November 30th in Columbus, marking it as the premier event of the weekend. This decision hardly comes as a surprise. Not only has noon historically been the customary start time for this rivalry, but also, the annual showdown between the Wolverines and Buckeyes has consistently ranked as the most-viewed regular-season college football encounter for the past three years.
In 2024, Michigan aims to secure its fourth consecutive victory in the rivalry, following triumphs of 42-27, 45-23, and 30-24 against Ohio State over the past three years. Additionally, the Wolverines strive for back-to-back wins in Columbus for the first time since 1988 and 1990. Notably, Michigan has not achieved four consecutive wins against Ohio State since 1988-1991.
The announcement follows shortly after Michigan’s season opener against Fresno State was scheduled for a primetime kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on NBC, featured as part of the network’s ‘Big Ten Saturday Night’ lineup. Furthermore, Michigan is set to be showcased in at least two ‘Big Noon Kickoff’ games on Fox, with the Week 2 clash against Texas in Ann Arbor already locked in for a noon start.
Facing one of the most challenging schedules in college football for 2024, Michigan will not only host Texas and visit Ohio State but will also welcome USC and Oregon to their home turf and embark on a road trip to face Washington.
