He is leaving: Lee Gregory announces his leaving to Mansfield Town due to….
Lee Gregory acknowledged his desire to transition from Sheffield Wednesday to Mansfield Town earlier this year, but unfortunately, the move fell through. Despite his significant contribution to Sheffield Wednesday’s promotion back to the Championship, it became evident under Danny Röhl’s management that Gregory would have limited involvement. Consequently, he remained unregistered for a substantial portion of the season. During the January transfer window, Mansfield, among other clubs, expressed interest in offering him playing opportunities elsewhere. However, negotiations with Sheffield Wednesday didn’t materialize at the time.
Gregory expressed disappointment, particularly since his former teammate, Aden Flint, spoke highly of Mansfield during their promotion campaign. Despite the setback in January, Gregory is pleased that the move has now come to fruition.
Reflecting on his time in South Yorkshire, Gregory fondly remembers the successes achieved with Sheffield Wednesday. Although he faced challenges with the new manager’s approach, he remains grateful for the support from the fans. Looking ahead to his future with Mansfield, Gregory is eager to make a fresh start and contribute positively to the team.
Pending confirmation from the FA and EFL, Gregory has agreed to a one-year deal with Mansfield Town and is set to join the club following the expiration of his contract with Sheffield Wednesday next month.
