‘Let’s Build This Together’: Panthers Maintain Volunteer Tradition Inspired by Hall of Fame Linebacker

The legacy of Hall of Fame linebacker and assistant coach Sam Mills endures as the Carolina Panthers observe #KeepPounding Day through community volunteer efforts.

Dave Canales, the Panthers’ rookie head coach, joined numerous staff and team members in the event. He emphasizes the significance of these interactions, highlighting the mutual support between the team and the community (according to The Athletic’s Joe Person).

While it’s crucial to evaluate players and teams based on their on-field performance, it’s equally important, if not more so, to acknowledge their community support and efforts to improve the world off the field.

Volunteer work is often overlooked, yet the relationships built and time invested in the community are invaluable, enhancing team chemistry and unity.

On May 17, 2024, for the sixth annual #KeepPounding Day, Panthers players, coaches, and staff are dedicating their time to community service. Canales is actively participating in five different community projects and is leading and organizing their volunteer activities, just as he will on the field.

This tradition helps keep the players and team grounded before the start of training camp and the regular season, reinforcing the Panthers’ motto of “Keep Pounding,” which signifies perseverance and hard work.
