A cornerback has de-committed from the Ohio State football team.

The Ohio State football team boasts one of the top recruiting classes nationwide, with the potential to make history for the school. Much of their success in recruiting stems from their impressive commitments in the secondary.

Presently, the Buckeyes possess the nation’s top two cornerbacks, both rated as five-star recruits and formidable athletes. Initially securing three commitments from the cornerback position, the team now counts only two, as one prospect has opted to withdraw his commitment.

Blake Woodby, the cornerback recruit with the lowest ranking, has chosen to de-commit from the Ohio State football program. Despite being a four-star recruit and having pledged to the Buckeyes since October of the previous year, he has now opted for a different path.

Woodby is currently on a visit to Florida, which might have influenced his decision to no longer consider Ohio State. Speculation suggests various reasons for his departure, including the possibility of a lucrative NIL deal elsewhere or a desire to avoid stiff competition at his position.

With Woodby’s de-commitment, opportunities arise for other cornerback prospects to join Ohio State. Notably, the team is already predicted to secure another five-star cornerback, potentially influencing Woodby’s decision. Dorian Brew emerges as another contender from this class if he ultimately chooses Ohio State.

Presently, Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class comprises only 12 commitments, a figure likely to increase as the camp season gains momentum in June. This expansion will provide a clearer picture of the class’s size and composition, albeit without Woodby’s involvement.

While wishing Woodby the best in his future endeavors, this situation underscores the fluidity of recruiting, emphasizing that commitments are not definitive until recruits submit their NLIs.
