Frank Ragnow of the Detroit Lions speaks out about retirement rumors and speculation.

Speculation and rumors have swirled around the potential retirement of Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow in the near future. Despite affirming his commitment to play in 2024, questions linger about his plans beyond that season.

Ragnow, who battled through various injuries in 2023, including a lingering toe issue, raised eyebrows with his post-NFC Championship Game comments, which hinted at possible retirement. Furthermore, an offseason rumor from Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline suggested Ragnow might call it quits after the 2024 campaign.

Addressing these concerns in an article by The Detroit News’ Justin Rogers, Ragnow dismissed retirement talks, stating it’s not something he’s contemplating. Reflecting on his remarks after the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Ragnow expressed frustration, clarifying that he simply intended to take time to recuperate post-game, which was misconstrued.

In an interview with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Ragnow discussed his offseason focus on family and self-care, highlighting a trip to northern Manitoba for solitude and ice-fishing. Emphasizing the importance of allowing his body to heal, Ragnow acknowledged this as his most rejuvenating offseason yet.

Feeling physically refreshed, Ragnow expressed optimism about his current condition and his readiness for the upcoming season, attributing his improved well-being to a dedicated focus on self-care. Motivated by the disappointment of last season’s conclusion, Ragnow is determined to achieve success in 2024 and beyond.

At 28 years old with two years remaining on his contract after 2024, Ragnow remains a vital asset to the Lions and is expected to continue performing at a high level for the foreseeable future.
