Deal Cancel: Safety Quandre Diggs announces his return to Detroit Lions following….

The Detroit Lions have been connected to the well-known former safety Quandre Diggs.

The Detroit Lions traded Quandre Diggs during the 2019 season, and he went on to become a Pro Bowl selection for the next three years, making the trade a difficult one for Detroit.

Reports indicate that the split wasn’t entirely amicable. Despite Diggs expressing his affection for the city, there were rumored issues with the Lions’ previous regime and head coach Matt Patricia.

However, with the Lions now led by Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell and experiencing success, a reunion has been suggested by various sources. Diggs continues to perform at a high level, and the Lions need depth at the safety position.

Consequently, Randy Mueller of The Athletic proposed that a return would be mutually beneficial in an article discussing potential landing spots for talented veterans who are still available.

“I actually think a return to the Motor City, where he spent his first five years in the league, would make some sense,” Mueller said. “The Lions have revamped their secondary, particularly at corner, and a veteran communicator could be just what they need to solidify the back end. Diggs earned good money in Seattle, so he might consider a discount to join a contender, and his previous connection to the Lions could be advantageous. He would fit seamlessly into their new culture under Dan Campbell.”
